Groundwork is a construction term. On a real site, it's the survey, the excavation, the compacting — everything that has to be right before the foundation goes in. We picked the name because we think AI-built software deserves the same discipline.
Gartner named the category this spring — Enterprise Vibe Coding Platforms — and the risk landed at the same time. Every scan we've done of citizen-built AI apps finds a version of the same picture: quick to demo, hard to defend in front of anyone whose job is to ask hard questions.
We aren't trying to shut that category down. We think it's a real thing and it isn't going away. What we're building is the missing check on the other side of it. Access control will tell you who touched the data. Our job is to tell you the number in the app actually agrees with the source, the app is only talking to systems that were cleared for it, and the person who built it stayed inside the rules the domain experts wrote.
One thing we've become sure of: if the approved path feels slow, no one uses it. So the whole design brief is governance that gets out of your way as often as it can.
Built to be trusted.
We assume a regulator, a grid engineer, and a CISO will each look at what we ship, separately, and reach the same verdict.
Verifiable.
Every claim we make comes with a pointer to the part of the system that makes it true. If it doesn't, we take the claim down.
Quick in practice.
If the approved way is slower than the workaround, the workaround wins. So we spend most of the engineering budget on that.
